Bucklar Ranch

Arizona became the 48th state in the union on February 14th, 1912; about the time the Bucklar family was building their log home from which to operate their cattle ranch on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Only 10 miles south of the park boundary, this property is being offered for sale for the second time in the last 60 years. Surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest in the middle of Arizona G&F Unit 9, long known for world record bull elk, the property includes 160 acres, 2752 SF log home, 855 SF caretaker/guest house and several out buildings. An important feature is a one-acre pond, the most consistent water source for miles around and a wildlife magnet. The previous owner constructed a 3000-foot runway which remains in excellent condition providing unique access. For an outfitter or similar outdoor business, such access could prove to be a valuable marketing tool. There are several out buildings used as workshops, hay storage and one houses a diesel generator/inverter. The original home, built in the early 1900's, is full log construction. Its size was doubled in the mid 50's, conventionally framed with half log siding. From the outside, the construction technique is consistant and difficult to distinguish from the original log construction. The home is solid having been well maintained. If you are interested in a working cattle ranch, the grazing lease, which surrounds Bucklar, is available as a separate purchase. The allotment will accommodate more then 1800 yearlings or 1300 animal units May1 to October 30 annually. It includes more then 180,000 acres, watered by more then 100 dirt tanks and has a tremendous diverse feed source. The north border is adjacent to the Grand Canyon National Park from just west of highway 64 east to the Navajo Nation. Call today to arrange a tour of this historic ranch in a park like setting.
